The Definition of AFOL
AFOL means “Adult Fan Of Lego.” It is a common acronym in the LEGO MOC community that refers to any fan of LEGO over the age of 18.

So, are you 42 and are stoked to build LEGO with your kids? Are you 75 and own your own LEGO collection? Are you 23 but still use your childhood brick collection to make awesome stuff? If you are any one of these people or any LEGO lover in between, you are an AFOL!
LEGO is not just for kids
The term AFOL has been gaining popularity in recent years, as more and more people realize that LEGO is not just for kids. Is it inherently childish to make something with your hands, collect pieces, and display custom creations? Of course not! And this has become apparent to many people.
In fact, the rise of LEGO among adults has been so great that even the LEGO group has started creating sets specifically for adults. They have a whole category dedicated to 18+, demonstrating a wider acceptance of being an Adult Fan of LEGO.
What is a TFOL?
Along with the term AFOL, you may have heard TFOL. What is a TFOL? TFOL means Teenage Fan OF LEGO, and describes fans of LEGO 13 to 19 years old. Because kids usually start to lose interest in LEGO in their early teens, anyone who still has a love of LEGO into their teens gets a special term, TFOL.

But if you are 18 or 19 years old and you are still a fan of LEGO are you an AFOL or a TFOL? You are both. Because you are still a teenaged but technically considered an adult, you could call yourself an AFOL or TFOL.
